The stamp is Scott #1433, the 8c John Sloane Painting stamp. Excellent condition, and UNFOLDED. These EARLY STAMP POSTERS were printed by the U.S. Gov't Printing Office. First issued in 1959, they were intended to be hung (usually with Scotch Tape or thumb tacks!) in Post Offices as a notice of upcoming releases. When stamp collectors learned of their existence the USPOD established a service for selling them thru the Philatelic Agency. They were sold mint, usually folded in 3rds, and it fell to the collector to get them First Day Cancelled. Thus, many different combinations of stamps exist on these pages. Scott calls these "Unofficial" Souvenir Pages. This is a terrible name; you can't get much more official than these. The price listed in Scott is for FOLDED posters; UNFOLDED posters command a premium...which can be a little or a lot, depending on the issue. PLEASE NOTE: For these early Stamp Posters, "excellent" does not mean "perfect". Too many hands were involved in the making of these Posters. Computer scans often show darker or lighter areas which aren't on the actual item, and the larger the object to be scanned, the more areas will be affected. Plus, I scan using a "cover sheet" to hold the item in place, and the plastic cover sheet can create glare. ALWAYS GO WITH THE DESCRIPTION!
