Description: This 1886-issued Jefferson postal card is an outreach from a man in Nashville, Illinois, requesting that "By Express" 500 La Rosa Blanca Cigars be sent to him. The recipient of the card (looks to me as if it) was one Mr. E. Hoffmann, located at 'No. 1824 S 7th St in St. Louis, MO. Based on my brief research, at least from the 1850's (and also years later) St. Louis was a major tobacco processing hub, and 7th Street was likely at the center of this industry there. This postal card was postmarked in September of 1887 in Nashville, Washington County, Illinois (postmark is light atop of image of Jefferson), and sent to Saint Louis, Missouri. After the years the item may show some typical wear.
