Description: Size: 7/8 inchMaterial: Sterling silver This medal features a realistic portrait of St Aloysius Gonzaga on the front and St Stanslaus Kostka holding the Christ Child on the reverse. St Aloysius' parents had decided that their son would be a soldier, but Aloysius had other plans. At age 9 he decided that he wanted to be a priest. While serving as a page in the Spanish court, he developed kidney disease which meant he had to spend a lot of time in bed where he had plenty of time for prayer and holy reading. When he was 18 he finally convinced his father to fulfill his dream of joining the Jesuits. In 1591 he worked helping victims of the plague in Rome. He caught the disease himself and died at the age of 23. St Stanislaus was born to a Polish noble family and attended the Viennese Jesuit college. While at the college, Stanislaus became gravely ill and prayed to his personal patron, Saint Barbara, who appeared to him in a vision with two angels, and administered Communion. He was then cured from his disease by Our Lady who told him to become a Jesuit, though it was against his family’s wishes. He attended the Jesuit college in Rome, Italy. Stanislaus was a friend of Saint Peter Canisius and a student of Saint Francis Borgia. The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA St Aloysius is the patron of:AIDS patientsTeenagersAIDS care-giversCatholic youthAt-risk youthDifficult childrenChastity St Stanislaus is the patron of:PolandAgainst broken bones IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL BUYERS OUTSIDE THE USA: -Delivery of your package typically takes 2 weeks but can take up to 4 to 6 weeks. - Charges such as Value Added Tax (VAT), Customs Fees, Duties, Handling Charges, or other charges imposed by your country when you import goods are not included in the item price or shipping charges.
