According to the optical scheme, they are semi-symmetrical anastigmats of the "double Gauss" type, usually including six lenses in four groups. Seven-lens lenses are less common. A feature of the Helios-81 Automatic is the absence of an aperture ring. The aperture on this lens is adjusted only from the Kyiv-10 and Kyiv-15 cameras. Actually, that is why the lens is called 'Automatic'. The aperture device itself has 6 blades that shine strongly, creating unnecessary reflections in the middle of the lens. The lens is suitable only for two SLR cameras – ‘Kyiv-10’, ‘Kyiv-15’.
