Each volume has a different color leather cover with gold lettering and decoration. Gilt at top page edges. Rough cut pages. Some volumes have uncut pages. Illustrations. World War 1. Volume 7 has color maps at back of book. Interiors are unmarked. This set is suitable for scholars or historians. Volume I contains 9 monochrome illustrations, each with an illustrated tissue protective sheet; the other volumes each have 4 or 5 protected illustrations. Volume 7 includes a series of color maps. The boards of each volume are decorated differently in gold with facsimiles of the Versailles Peace Treaty of each country involved in the war. Boards of the 7 books range from adequate to very good. Condition, by Volume: Volume I Causes (red cover) Top of spine is torn. Back cover is damaged; both front and back covers are loosened. Volume II A.D. 1914 (green cover)Spine leather cracked but not yet loosened. Volume III A.D. 1915 (red cover)Spine cover loosened. Back cover splitting.
