Description: Enjoy a diverse blend of natural sounds from the Sonoran Desert, featuring a monsoon thunderstorm and 46 species of wildlife—27 birds, 5 mammals, 8 toads/frogs, 1 reptile, and 5 insects. This carefully designed program is based on more than 40 years of fieldwork and recording experience by Thomas Wiewandt, producer of our Award-winning Documentary DESERT DREAMS: Celebrating Five Seasons in the Sonoran Desert. Sound editor Jeff Cravath ended up with 195 “layers” of recorded sound that we used to make Disc 1––a 41-minute uninterrupted, designed audio experience without narration. Knowing that many people aren’t familiar with the voices of desert wildlife featured on Disc 1, mostly birds, we added Disc 2 with the narrated names and sound clips for these species. Included is a 16-p listening guide with educational background notes. Thanks to the talented audio engineers we have worked with here in Tucson, the sound is beautifully clean––an enormous challenge in today's overcrowded, mechanized world. Manufactured in the USA. Shrink-wrapped. Not available on any streaming platform.
