Description: This copy has two items of historic significance. It includes a signed gifting letter, attached to inside cover, from Joe Bryson who served as member of US House of Representatives (1939-1953) in South Carolina. It also has a signature, which appears to be of ownership in 1820, on the title page, by William James Stone. Stone lived from 1800 to 1865 who was an engraver and lithographer. Stone was commissioned by John Quincy Adams to make a full-size facsimile copperplate engraving of the Declaration of Independence. He took three years to complete the engraving which is now on display at the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. His name appears on the original copperplate. (See photos of both). These historical additions along with being an 1818 third edition printing make this an exceptionally rare and fascinating collector's book.
