Two bookplates on the front free endpaper. Also laid in is a telegram from Carson and two letters. The first letter has a Rachel Carson letterhead from Silver Spring Maryland and is a two page hand written letter to Beverly Hard who apparently met at Scripps College in Claremont, California and became friends with. The letter talks about a possible visit but Carson is worried that she is sick, the letter is signed 'Sincerely Rachel.' The letter comes in the original envelope that has Carson's name and address printed on the back. Also laid in is a letter written on two greeting cards. Addressed to 'Dear Beverly and Fred,' and dated September, 21, 1963. The letter is about a trip she is taking to San Francisco and is hoping to visit Beverly and Fred in LA afterwards but is worried about her health. The letter ends with 'With warm good wishes to you both - Rachel.'
