Direct mount cranksets have drive-side crank arms that can be removed from the crankset. In addition, if you were to view the backside of the crank, you would see three small bolts or screws that secure the crank arm to the spider or chainring. It's very important you confirm you have a direct mount version where the drive-side crank arm can be removed.
