Description: This 1967 reissued stereo album from Melodiya/Angel (SR-40000, though front cover still reads as R-40000) features a performance of Shostakovich's The Execution of Stepan Razin, as well as his Symphony No. 9. The performing orchestra is the Moscow Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kiril Kondrashin, also featuring Vitaly Gromadsky (bass) and the RSFSR Russian Chorus (directed by A. Yurlov). The poem was written by Yevgeny Yevtushenko, and the original leaflet featuring the words in both Russian and English (translated) is included. Album notes are in English, based on the original Russian notes by S. Shlifshtein. The outer sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2).
