Description: Scott Instruments Labs Octave Band Analyzer Type 462 w/Case and Manual Preowned This Scott Instrument Laboratories Band Analyzer is model "Type 462 ANSI Type E, Class II". I found this instrument at an electronics collector's estate sale. Unfortunately I have no way of testing it, so although it appears to be in excellent condition, I can't guarentee that it works and I'm selling it as is. This listing includes the Band Analyzer, the manual it came with, a used screwdriver (not pictured) that was in the case, and the original black vinyl case it came with. In the manual it says that "The Scott 462 Octave Band Filter has been designed and produced to operate in conjuction with the Scott 452 Sound Level Meter. It conforms to the specifications of the American Natonal Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard S1.11--1966. The 462 is a Type E (Extended Range, 9 octaves) and Class II (high slope) unit." This is what I found as a description of this analyzer: "Octave band analysis is an indispensable tool for sound measurement because it gives a close approximation of how the human ear responds. Octave-band analyzers are special sound level meters that divide noise into its frequency components.
