Description: A former library copy with a few related flaws--white numbers/letters on the spine; a pasted date-due pouch in rear cover and on final endpaper. Overall fair to good condition. Some pages have rough or slightly torn edges from original hand-cutting; hinges cracked open but no signs of separation and binding feels pretty firm. Covers have wear and some soiling; rear cover has some paper stuck to it & spine is quite faded. pages appear to be clear and good and without noticeable spotting. This is a rather scarce first edition of this historical work. Note: I try to identify any flaws in books as much as possible. Sometimes a photo will catch something that I hadn't noticed when making the listing--so it's good practice to look at the photographs as well as to read the listing.
