Description: Roman Imperial dupondius of Galba, 68-69 A.D., Sear(2000) 2130, R.I.C. 287, approx. 30-31 mm diameter, 14.1 gm. The obverse shows a right facing, laureate head of Galba, with the legend "IMP. SER. GALBA, AVG. TR.P.". The reverse shows a large wreath of leaves with lettering of the legend in three lines inside the wreath. The legend shows "S. P. Q. R. OB. CIV. SER. ". Both sides are toned dark brown. The portrait of Galba is still strong in detail of facial features, hair, ear and laureate ribbon. On the lower neck and on the area above the ear is some surface porosity that is not too distracting from the portrait. The reverse shows strong detail in all the wreath and lettering, with some brown accretion around some of the lettering and edges of the wreath. The other surfaces are mostly glossy brown. This is a genuine original coin, not a copy, replica or reproduction. EX. JOEL L. MALTER & CO., Encino, CA., Mail Bid Sale XXXIII Lot # C-282, 14-15 June 1986
