Description: This is a small, charming, hand-coloured lithographic print of the Barbican Gate at Lewes Castle in East Sussex by Robert Tavener RE (1920-2004). It is printed on card and signed in pencil by the artist bottom right. Lewes Castle is a Norman Castle built after the Battle of Hastings by supporters of William the Conqueror. The Barbican Gate was added in 14th century This lithograph was produced by Tavener later in his life during the 1980s following his retirement from Eastbourne College of Art and Design.
