Description: Authentic Titanic Upholstery Thread History The red or crimson fabric thread was part of the upholstery used on Titanic's second class dining room chairs. The Harland and Wolff Paymaster, what we might refer to today as a payroll manager, took material from the original roll as a keepsake while Titanic was in Belfast (1911/12). He used it on a chair that remained as a family heirloom until 1999. The material was eventually sold at auction in 2005 and has remained with the same collector since. The valuable original material with a wealth of well-documented lineage has been on display at the Vancouver Maritime Museum in 1999, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA, the National Geographic Museum in Washington D.C. and Titanic An Immersive Journey. Each two-inch display is signed on the back by a respected 20+ year known collector and researcher, respected throughout the hobby. The attractive hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity details the thread's origins and history through the years. The sturdy display is a two-piece 2" x 2" (two inches) clear plastic snap case. An instructor of fabric at the LA Fashion Institute (FIDM) stated that this is high quality time-era hand spun cotton with a fine grade dye. The thread used in the photograph is approx. 3/8" or 8mm, you can expect about the same. It will not be the exact one shipped, actual piece may slightly vary in size, shape and possibly in shade. Free shipping will be standard first-class and eBay Global in a padded envelope for added protection. Handling time is typically one-day. If not 100% satisfied you may return it at your expense pursuant to eBay rules. The pieces are shipped protected in double bubble wrap but every so often these packages are roughed up by the postal service. Not liable for damaged items resulting from their mishandling.
