The material is bonded marble , and the bases are white veined black marble . The artist/sculptor of these recreations is Italian sculptor Amilcare Santini . These pieces are precise mathematical reductions of the world famous 'Riace Warriors' , 2 magnificent 6' 4.5" bronze statues found in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Riace Marina , Italy , on August 6 , 1972 . The figure with shorter hair is referred to in scholarship as "figure A", and that with longer hair as "figure B" . They were created in the 'Severe' or 'Early Classical style' employing the lost wax method of casting and are currently housed and on display in The Museo Nazionale Della Magna Grecia in Reggio Calabria , Italy . Made in the 5th century BCE , the creators of the original sculptures are unknown , and lost to history . The two pieces offered here , beautifully exacting recreations of the originals , were created from precise measurements . Many reproductions have been done over the intervening decades , however these pieces are absolutely the most accurate in every way other than size and the material they are executed in .
