The car contains technical ingenuity cloaked in one of the most sensual and appealing car bodies ever created. Its story has twists and turns, with cat-like multiple lives and a provenance that includes at least a couple of bigger-than-life personalities. It’s had a big-block engine, it’s had a small-block and, in one of those twists, it’s even been powered by another stillborn project, the GM rotary. Its history even includes an aluminum-bodied version of America’s fiberglass sports car. The car is the Aerovette, currently on display at the GM Heritage Center.
