Description: Reproduction S.W.C.C Rotary "A" Commutator. Another new batch of commutators made for the Rotary "A" movement. These will fit either the earlier round shaft or the later D shaft. These will NOT fit the Rotary Cs with a threaded shaft. If you need a new commutator for your Rotary C movement that has a threaded shaft please contact me and I will custom make you one. In order for these to fit your specific movement, I bored the hole slightly smaller. By doing so, they will need to be reamed with a tapered broach from the back side (do not ream from the front). You want the commutator to feel tight on the shaft when you can gain access to the retaining pin hole in the shaft. Once you have done this, loosen the commutator on the shaft, align it relative to the rotor so that the front tabs are positioned midway on the armature leaf and then push the commutator back on until it is tight and then install the retaining pin. After this stage is complete you can make all the necessary adjustments to the contacts and the stop spring. Good Luck! The second picture shows the original commutator on the left that I copied. I also added two pictures showing the new commutator installed on a D shaft and of the new commutator installed to show the alignment with the armature leaves. Thanks to a colleague for the pictures of his newly installed commutator! Take a look at picture #8. This is a screen shot of a CAD drawing showing the correct alignment of the tabs on the commutator to the armature leaves on the rotor.
