In regards to widths...D width refers to average, or standard, width. Boots with E widths are ¼ inches wider than D widths, EEs are ½ inches wider than D, and EEEs are ¾ inches wider than D width boots. Wider width boots can be more comfortable, and help lessen the time it takes to ‘break-in’ a pair of boots. I have US 10.5D feet and often wear true-to-size 10.5D boots, but sometimes I’ll wear wider boots if they’re more comfortable than the D width variation, especially if I intend to wear thicker than normal socks with the boots.
