We have no desire to add any additional parts to the rebuild but we also will not cut corners. A 2 Year Warranty is a long time, especially in the Marine Industry. Our job is to rebuild the unit right the first time. If the customer / Buyer decides they do not wish to pay for additional parts the rebuild will not come with any kind of guarantee or warranty. After the unit has been rebuilt & tested, our office will give you a call for any additional balance left on the rebuild service for both parts and or additional services. We understand people are on a budget but we also will not compromise our quality or reliability to save money. Parts can range from $20-$1300 and they add up quickly. A good rule of thumb if your boat is used in Salt water, or it has more than 500 hours on it the unit will likely require hard parts. If your unit sits in the water or the boat has bottom paint on it you will likely need a lot of parts to make it reliable for service. Again if you wish to not replace the parts we deem necessary to make the unit reliable we will void the warranty and send the unit back assembled or disassembled depending on your preference. Again the rebuild service price is a non refundable deposit that covers both our time and labor we put into every unit and transaction. In the event a unit is deemed non repairable, we will refund the Rebuild Service price and scrap the unit for parts. If you wish to receive the faulty unit back we are still entitled to our Full Rebuild Service Fee. We apologize for keeping such strict policies in place but with over 4000 of these units being rebuilt annually we occasionally run into problem customers and we want to be fully transparent about everything we do. If you want it rebuilt properly look no further we’ve got you covered. If you want us to slap some seals in a corroded / rusted piece of junk don’t send the unit to us. We only know one way and that is the right way we will not cut any corners to jeopardize your reliability. We also reserve the right to be paid by certified check before releasing any components from our facility. This is a rare scenario where we run into a unresolvable situation with a customer that is not cooperating with us and or making threats of any kind to our staff. Simply drop your unit off in a box via UPS or Fedex (UPS preferred)Please include your Name, Phone Number, Email, and Return Address. Please allow 4-5 Business Days for us to rebuild your unit. Your options- When your unit fails you have usually 3 options, Option 1 - Buy a new unit for an excessive amount of money and depending on what motor you have and how old it may not be available. Option 2 - Find a used unit gamble on it working properly, many of these used units floating around on eBay and at shops are pulled off junk motors and they tend to be only good as cores with no real life left in them and you would be spending money on something that won’t give you any value for your money. Option 3 - Send your unit to Five Star Marine and have it rebuilt by the professionals. We offer a full 2 Year Warranty on all of our rebuilds. We do the highest quality work in this field hands down. Every unit goes through a Full Remanufacturing Process that will outlast a New Unit. Using only the highest quality Seals, Fluids & Sealants available. Extra Parts- On your unit, faulty Parts are automatically replaced to bring your unit to spec for the 2 year warranty. Extra parts like Valve Bodies, Manifolds, Electric Motors, Rams, End Caps, Manual Release Valves, etc are not included in the rebuild price. We do not upcharge on any additional parts. If you would like a quote on parts before replacing, please include a quote request on your note. Our goal is to make this as cost effective as possible to keep the transaction smooth and as fair as possible. Parts can range from $20-$1300 Warranty- All of our units come with a Full 2 Year Warranty and we save all your information in our system indefinitely. We stand behind our work %100 that way you have a piece of mind and someone you can count on. We have very few issues because of the process we have developed to ensure all units are properly rebuilt and leak and pressure tested before shipment. Shipping not included Monday through Friday 8-4pm EST at 727-346-6912EXT1 6902 Industrial Ave, Port Richey, FL 34668 More information on Rebuild Service process below: Life Expectancy - Your standard trim unit is only designed to last 10-15 Years after that the manufactures are hoping to sell you a new unit if not sell you the same junky seals they used the first time that failed. A properly Rebuilt unit from Five Star Marine should last 20-30 Years depending on your environment in which you run the boat. We Are The Best In The Business For Trim Units - We have been specialized in this field for years and have made a great name for ourselves in the marine community from California to New York, Jamaica to Alaska, Hawaii to Norway we’ve helped boaters from all over the globe. Trim and Tilt units are very complicated pieces of equipment and anyone with a spanner wrench can change a seal but that's just a patch job. It is very hard for your local shop to properly clean and service the internals of these units and both polish everything inside and out to insure a long life. We believe repairs should only be done once and that's our goal. You Are Our Customer - We work for you and although we can’t make everyone happy it's our mission to provide you with the best customer service & value for your money we try our very best to solve the most difficult issues and give the best technical support available over the phone anytime. If we can’t fix your unit we will help find you a core/used unit or get you the best wholesale price on a new unit through our connections. Quality Seals - We use our own seals manufactured to our specific specifications instead of the OEM, the manufactures are great but they aren’t stupid and they have shareholders to please and planned obsolescence is in full effect when it comes to trim units. We have manufactured seals with better sealing properties and much better Oxidation, UV, Fuel & Chemical resistance. Materials like Viton and High Grade Urethanes, these materials can cost up to 15 times more than standard OEM seals but is a drop in the bucket compared to the overall cost of these units. We do not cut corners and we are proud to break the vicious cycle by taking the customers side and not short sided profit. Special Cleaning Process - All Units are broken down to the bare bones and cleaned thoroughly inside and out. We have special High Pressure Hot Tank Washing Machines that aid in this process as well as Ultrasonic Cleaners for valve assemblies etc. After Years of use these units build up debris internally that can clog valves, create leak down issues etc. 3 Stage Buffing Process- A seal is only as good as the surface it rides on, too often we see sandpaper scratches on the thin chrome plating of these rams. Even surface pitting can be buffed out and smoothed but we have a more subtle approach that makes for a mirror finish but can only be achieved by heavy duty buffing machines. We have several of them. The first stage rounds out any sharp imperfections and levels the surface smoother than the OEM, the second is a polishing stage to get a good shine and reduce the ability for anything to stick to the ram. The final stage is what gives it that mirror-like shine and makes it very difficult for anything to stick to it so when it's retracted inward the wiper cleans the ram before it can cause damage to the internal seal. A polished used ram will be much better than a new ram as the manufactures don’t take the time to level the lathe machine marks before it is thinly chromed. A True Clean Build -These units are built in a clean area separate from where they are taken apart and prepped and polished this way no contaminants are present to cause a failure. These units are self-contained units with an integrated valve body and reservoir; they could be compared to a transmission and building them in a clean environment free of contaminants is essential for a long life and fewer issues. Specially Formulated Marine Grade Oils/Fluids - We use a Marine Grade Hydraulic Oil specially made for us to meet our industry needs and extend the life of your unit. Special Anti-Corrosion additives are added by our manufacturer to meet our specifications. This oil won’t degrade or break down like the trim and tilt fluid you get from the store. The outboard manufactures use biodegradable fluids from the factory. I assume this is mandated by the EPA but because it's biodegradable it has limited anti corrosion characteristics and breaks down overtime which causes leaks. Then other store bought fluids like ATF or Hydraulic jack oil are introduced into the system creating a cocktail that expands and breaks down seals even more and leaks into the water. If they had used a non biodegradable from the factory your unit may last quite a bit longer and not be leaking any oil at all. Leak Down Issues - We Specialize in fixing leak down issues and have the special tooling to bore and polish cylinders and refit for oversized seals. We also have a great knowledge of the internal workings and have the ability to grind and reseat valves to insure a good seal internally. Testing -We have test mid sections for all makes and models so we have the ability to test for issues and simulate the real thing so your experience is problem free. Shipping Instructions - UPS is the most reliable and we have a UPS Hub next to our shop. We keep a very close relationship with all the shipping companies as we get deliveries everyday. Please pack the unit properly so it gets to us in one piece. You do not have to drain the fluid from the unit, let us do that and properly dispose of it. If your unit is leaking everywhere, double bag it in trash bags. Shipping Address- Five Star Marine At 6902 Industrial Ave, Port Richey, FL 34668 Turn around time - 2-5 Business days from when after we receive your unit. During the spring and summer you can guarantee we are slammed and will need 5 days to properly get your unit rebuilt and turned around to you purely due to high volume. We keep mostly everything we can in stock so parts availability normally is not an issue. Salt Water- We are based in Florida (SaltWater Heaven) and Pulling your unit apart without breaking it is an art all on its own. We are extremely skilled at getting salt water units apart in one piece, so this is not an issue for us. We also have industrial equipment to help Heat & Drill and Tap broken bolts etc. Painting & Corrosion Protection- We do not rattle can units as that causes more issues than it solves cosmetically. We offer a Sand Blasting and Epoxy coating service where we blast your unit to bare metal and build it back up with an Industrial Grade Epoxy Primer. This process is mostly for Boat Owners who keep the boat in the water for extended periods of time and are experiencing corrosion problems. This special coating is applied very thick to help fully insulate the unit from any contact with the water then top coated with enamel or Lacquer to match your factory colors. The cost of this process is a flat rate of $150 and should seriously be considered if you keep your boat in the water. For basic corrosion protection we recommend the Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor Made by CRC this is a very thick and waxy substance that works very well. Failed Attempts At Rebuilding- If you have paid your mechanic to rebuild your unit and it does not function properly or is in parts that is fine also. We will work with you and help you get your money back from a failed attempt and try to keep everyone as honest as possible. If your unit is in parts just ship us everything you have in plastic baggies and try not to lose any parts as many internal parts for many units are not available. Our Staff is very knowledgeable and can answer almost any question outboard related. We are a Full Service Outboard Shop but we specialize in Remanufacturing Trim & Tilt Units and have a very impressive industrial facility tailored to Remanufacturing anything outboard related.
