🔥 RARE Vintage Mexican Modern Cubist Abstract Horse Painting, Xavier GIRON 1987

Description: This is a dynamic and expressive RARE Vintage Mexican Modern Cubist Abstract Horse Painting, Acrylic on Canvas, by pioneering Mexican Modernist painter and co-founder of the avant-garde Galeria La Chinche (Mexico City, alongside Pedro Friedeberg), Xavier Giron (b. 1942.) This artwork depicts the cubistic portrait of four brown, blue-eyed horses, with their manes melded together as a complex amalgamated abstraction. Their portraits are rendered against a sky-blue background, and their facial expressions are a mix of joy, excitement, and discontent. Signed and dated: "Xavier Giron '87" in the lower right corner. Approximately 24 x 30 inches. Good overall condition for age and storage, with numerous speckles of light soiling, scuffing, edge wear, and one small pinhole tear to the painted surface (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. This is the largest, and finest original artwork by Xavier Giron to ever be offered on the market. Priced to Sell. About the Artist: Xavier Giron Born: 1942 - Mexico CityKnown for: Painting Xavier Giron (Born 1942) is active/lives in Mexico. Xavier Giron is known for Painting. Xavier Giron studied architecture and painting at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He first exhibited in the late 1960s and later exhibited at Galerie Espace, several times at the Galeria Mizrachi in Mexico City, the Galeria Gabriela Orozco, and many other venues. In 1979, Giron and famed Mexican artist Pedro Friedeberg founded the influential avant-garde gallery Galeria La Chinche in Mexico City. La Chinche, an extension of the Eco Experimental Museum, in the frame of the sample Challenge to Stability. Artistic processes in Mexico, 1952-1967, currently exhibited by the MUAC. For thirteen months, the Chinche will hold an exhibition, inspired by the gallery of the same name that Pedro Friedeberg and Xavier Girón managed in the late 1970s. The gallery, located in Antwerp number 18G, in the Pink Zone, will present in its inauguration sample works by Jerónimo Rüedi.Jerónimo Rüedi was born in Mendoza, Argentina in 1981. He studied painting and sculpture in Argentina and Spain. After his studies he focused mainly on painting and in recent years he constantly collaborates with artists of various disciplines who have nurtured their own visual vocabulary, which emerges from the intersections of painting, video and spatial analysis.Currently completing a three-month residency at the Art Office in Mexico City to return to Berlin, where he has resided for two years. The Bed Bug (La Chinche)In 1979 Xavier Girón and Pedro Friedeberg founded "La Chinche", a 12-square-meter gallery that was annexed to a private parking lot located at 122 Hamburg Street in Mexico City's Zona Rosa. During a little more than two years of activity (1979-1981) the founders held 13 exhibitions. In 2014 the Museo Experimental el Eco put into practice a reduced sequel to La Chinche, framed in the parallel activities of the exhibition Challenge to Stability, Artistic Processes in Mexico 1952-1967, held at the University Museum of Contemporary Art MUAC. "...Thanks to these connections, Pedro Friedeberg began to meet other Mexican surrealist artists such as Leonora Carrington (1917 – 2011) and Alice Rahon (1904 – 1987), until he became a member of Los Hartos in 1961.This artistic group or movement advocated the spiritualization of art and was based on Dadaist principles: the creation of anti-art for art's sake, rejecting the political and social painting that was dominant in Mexico at the time. They were original, eccentric, irreverent, and iconoclastic, and the influence of this group led Friedeberg to believe in the autonomy of aestheticism. For Friedeberg, "Los Hartos is the most important movement of the 1960s. Thanks to this move... José Luis Cuevas became famous. Thanks also to Los Hartos, Chucho Reyes began to sell like hotcakes and the Antonio Souza gallery became immortal... Thanks to Los Hartos we were able to found, together with Xavier Girón, chinchismo in the gallery La Chinche, amen".In 1979, Pedro Friedeberg and Xavier Girón organized an artistic movement called "Chinchismo," which comes from "chinche," which comes from bedbug, meaning error, and asked thirty artists to create "mistakes" with the idea of ridiculing artistic movements or "isms." La Chinche, exhibitionADMIN | Thursday, March 26, 2015 On Saturday, the Museo Experimental el Eco will present La Chinche in the Living Archive of the venue, an exhibition that takes up the project of Xavier Girón and Pedro Friedeberg, who opened a gallery called La Chinche in 1979. In 2014 the Museo Experimental el Eco implemented a reduced sequel to La Chinche, framed in the parallel activities of the exhibition Challenge to Stability, Artistic Processes in Mexico 1952-1967, held at the MUAC. In its new version, a display case was set up in the exhibition space. The display case was placed for a year on the façade of the Kemi pizzeria at 18 Antwerp Street in the Zona Rosa, where La Chinche was located. The exhibition at the Eco gives an account of both versions: the one from 1979 and the one from 2015. Participating in the exhibition are Jerónimo Ruëdi, Alejandro García Contreras, Guillermo Rosas, Tláhuac Mata, Rocío Gordillo, Christian Camacho, Alejandro Mejía, Oscar Garduño and Patricia Alpízar. The inauguration will take place at 12:00 hrs.
