Description: Really cool and unique, vintage 1930s mechanical, windup sailor doll. Has a windup key on his back. He doesn’t stand up and is permanently in a sitting position. He measures 6” 1/8 tall. His legs measure 5” 1/2 long. His arms measure 4” inches long. His painted composition head measures 2” 1/8 tall by 2” 1/2 wide. When you wind his back he then claps arms and together. His motor is nice and strong and loud, makes a mechanical sound. The biggest flaw to the doll is his once navy blue velvet costume has been faded by sun. His stuffed hands are in decent shape but do have some aging. There’s glimpses of his original blue color in some corners and seams. There’s a few age stains and discoloration due to age on his outfit. Also his original sailor hat is missing. The black ribbon on his costume has some discoloration and wrinkles on the right side of it. The wind up metal silver plated key has some wear as well. He also has some flea size dents and age marks on his face but they’re not really noticeable. His top collar has some fraying on the left side. His detailed hand painted face is very bright. There’s a crack on his right ear. Also there’s some paint loss on the right side. His arms are attached by metal wire type rods. No makers mark, but does have similarities and style as Norah Welling dolls. Most likely a Queen Ann ship cruise souvenir. Offering this rare doll as is/as found. A must have for 1930s sailor doll or mechanical automaton style toys. Offering free shipping. Thanks for your interest!
