Rare Traditional Sami Crafts Two Small Knives One Leather Sheath Scarce Ex Cond

Description: Traditional Sami Crafts 2 x Small Knives + 1 x Leather Sheath Handcrafted In Sweden Here we have a rare lot of two handcrafted small knives and one leather sheath, manufactured by the Sami artisans of Västernorrland, Sweden, probably ca.1950s. The Sami are the descendants of nomadic peoples who had inhabited northern Scandinavia (the region formerly known as Lapland) for thousands of years. Today encompasses large northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia's Kola Peninsula. The original pieces are uncleaned, showing some normal aged wear. The knives feature carbon steel blades, and hand-carved handles in reindeer horn. One of the handle is nicely marked with a name place "Söråker" on one side, and on the other side it appears to be an indecipherable writing. A reindeer's head with horns is also marked. This small knife comes without its own sheath. The other handle is nicely engraved with traditional Sami motifs, and a reindeer's head with horns. No name place, or signature engraved. The knife fits perfectly well in its finely crafted leather sheath. The blades measures approx. 2in (5cm) and the handles approx. 2 1/2in (6cm). All parts are firmly attached, and remains in good conditions. No wobble. Don't miss out on these unique Sami handcrafted knives with fine decorative patterns.
