Description: This listing is for an INCREDIBLY RARE 1961 John F. Kennedy inauguration commemorative postal cover signed by former United States Secret Service agent Samuel A. Kinney, now deceased. Samuel Allen Kinney (September 12, 1926 - July 21, 1997) On November 22, 1963 President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas, Texas as his motorcade passed by the Texas School Book Depository building on the corner of Elm and Houston Street. He was shot from a 6th floor window by Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the building. Agent Sam Kinney was driving the Secret Service follow up car directly behind President Kennedy's presidential limousine in the motorcade on that fateful day. The car he was driving was carrying 8 Secret Service agents, including himself, as well as JFK's presidential aides and best friends, Dave Powers and Kenneth O'Donnell. The agents riding in and on the follow up car (SS 679-X) were Kinney, Emory Roberts, Clint Hill, Jack Ready, Tim McIntyre, Paul Landis, George Hickey, and Glen Bennett. Following the assassination, Kinney helped remove Governor John Connally and President Kennedy from the limousine once they reached Parkland Memorial Hospital. He then, with the help of agent George Hickey, put the bubble top and canvas cover on the limousine and drove it back to Dallas Love Field, loaded it on the plane, and flew with it back to Andrews Air Force Base. KINNEY'S AUTOGRAPH IS EXTREMELY RARE! I HAVE ATTACHED TO THE LISTING, FOR REFERENCE ONLY, AN IMAGE TAKEN DURING THE ASSASSINATION. KINNEY HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN THE PHOTO. I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED, FOR REFERENCE ONLY, AN IMAGE OF ONE OF KINNEY'S STATEMENTS GIVEN TO THE USSS AFTER THE ASSASSINATION. Professional and secure USPS shipping is FREE! Thanks for checking out my listing!
