Description: Description: An extremely rare polished specimen of a branching columnar stromatolite from the 251 million year old (Early Triassic) Bernburg Formation within the Buntsandstein Group of Central Germany. The Bernburg Formation is characterised by lenticular to flaser bedded claystones, siltstones and sandstones interbedded with stromatolitic horizons, of which this specimen is an example. The specimen's front face has been cut and polished to a mirror finish, while the reverse face is natural. Dimensions: 185 mm x 65 mm x 50 mm at widest points Weight: 769 g.
