Description: FREE UPS SHIPPING on this Beautiful Rare Gem Beautiful Antique Swiss Made Pocket Watch With Complications Made by Sandoz-Boucherin / Meylan w Realistic Moon Phase Please take a close look at the photos and notice how different and much more realistic the Moon Phase dial is... unlike most other pocket watches that look similar, the Moon is actually shown going through its actual phases over its 28.5 day cycle from crescent to quarter to waxing gibbous to full to waning gibbous and so on. Most other pocket watches of this type have a much more simplistic representation of the Moon's phases and movements. This is pure late 19th century Swiss Sandoz-Boucherin / Meylan genius and an example of attention to detail in this watch that one does not see in others. Next look closely at the photos again and you will see a canine looking figure and the Swiss Cross etched inside the back case. It is marked "Swiss Made" on the inside of the back cover and the movement is etched with the Swiss Patent #1712 which is an 1889 patent for calendar clocks and watches in the name of Sandoz and Meylan. This antique Moon Phase calendar pocket watch was made by Adamir Sandoz and Auguste Meylan (A Sandoz-Boucherin). The Meylan family is one of the oldest watchmaking dynasties in Switzerland, believed to have been started in 1670 by Moise Meylan in Le Lieu, Vallée de Joux. In 1890, Adamir Sandoz and Auguste Meylan became business partners and the company A Sandoz-Boucherin was formed in 1894. The main time dial is set by holding in the small button at the 11:30 position, just to the left of the main stem (see photo) while at the same time rotating the main stem button. Month, Date, Day & Moon dials can be set separately by pressing the small recessed buttons on the perimeter of the watch (see photos). And all of these dials update automatically as the watch runs. The watch measures 50mm diameter (2") excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is appears to have a patina to the finish, but I am not 100% sure of the exact composition of the case. The lens is in good condition. The enamel dial is beautifully detailed with beautiful blue numbers, small accents picked out in gold color and a gold colored outer decorative border.
