Description: Rare Childs Flow Blue Pearlware Dinner Set Plate ROYAL LILY Staffordshire England 1825 This is a tiny miniature dollhouse dinner set platter or meat plate c1840. The plate is made earthenware with a brilliant cobalt flow blue swirling pattern similar to Ridgway's Royal Lily and Bluebell patterns, finished with pearlware glaze. The oval platter measures 3-5/8 inches long and 2-1/2 inches across with a flat footless case from a very early period of children’s pottery. Well made, to the standards usually only found in full-size Staffordshire table wares, the tiny plate is an elegant mixture of formality and whimsy. A perfect start of a set for a doll and toy collector. The plate is unmarked. We call it Royal Lily because of its similarity to a flow blue pattern made for adults. We don't know if it has an official name. The plate was most likely made in the Staffordshire region of England from the period of 1820-1840. The maker is unknown. The plate is in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Kiln fleck, stilt marks and other typical firing imperfections, as shown, original to the making and typical of the period. An outstanding little toy dinner set platter to display in the finest ceramic collection or dollhouse! The tiny piece is a doll sized work of art, suitable for display and play. Sold as is, as described. We have also listed other miniature table wares and tea wares along with other great examples of pearlware and other early children's colorful transferwares this week -- mix and match for a lovely collection.
