The original hard stock signed COA from SF Art Exchange will be included upon this piece’s purchase. Originally released in 1994 as an edition of just 190, this next to impossible to find piece was purchased from the San Fransisco Art Exchange, a world renowned Rock Art gallery that showcases some of the most sought-after limited editions from Ronnie Wood’s artistic career. One owner - smoke free household - purchased in 1994. The artwork captures legendary guitarist and fellow bandmate Keith Richards. Almost THREE DECADES after its original release, the piece is one of Ronnie’s oldest available artworks, highly praised for its arresting portrayal of the notorious Keith Richards in all of his “pirate-like” glory. The quintessential Keith.. appearing pleasantly unfazed by it all. Though Ronnie Wood released several works depicting bandmate Keith Richards, this official serigraph release (Keith V) is his most prized (and exceedingly difficult to acquire). Numbered, 45 of 190, signed, titled, and BEAUTIFULLY framed. These days, this Keith V serigraph limited edition screenprint is next to extinct when it comes to market availability. About the Artist: Ronnie Wood, in addition to being part of the famous music group ""The Rolling Stones"", is a renowned visual artist. As a child, his drawings appeared on the BBC's Sketch Club television program; he won one of the competitions on that show, an achievement he refers to as his ""awakening to art."" He continued to study at Ealing Art College, as had his two brothers. Other notable musicians, Freddie Mercury and Pete Townshend, also attended the school in the 1960s. Wood's paintings, drawings, and prints frequently feature icons of popular culture and have been exhibited around the world. He created the cover for Eric Clapton's Crossroads album in 1988. Several of his paintings, including a work commissioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, are on display at London's Drury Lane Theater. Art critic Brian Sewell has referred to Wood as ""an accomplished and respectable artist""; and the South Bank Show magazine has dedicated an entire program to the artistic side of him. Wood has had a long-standing relationship with the San Francisco Art Exchange gallery, which first exhibited his work in 1987. He is also the co-owner (along with his children Jamie and Tyrone) of a gallery of London art called Scream. Piece itself: This extremely limited high vibrancy serigraph print (Keith V) measures about 29” tall by 22” across. Including the frame and matting, overall this piece measures about 38” inches tall by about 31.5” across. The artist hand writes in thick charcoal pencil beginning at the lower left the piece’s title (Keith V), at the middle - the edition number (45 of 190), and at the far right signs - “Ronnie Wood.” This piece is BEAUTIFULLY matted and framed. Museum Grade, Acid Free Matting, UV Plexiglass. Extremely high quality THICK padded black cotton canvas matting, that tapers down elegantly on the sides. This serigraph has never been removed from its frame - the former owner (a prominent Hollywood figure in the ‘90s) had the piece matted and framed at (The Frame Gallery) in Beverly Hills, California immediately upon purchase. The piece was purchased from the world renowned Rock and Roll art distributor Sa Fransisco Art Exchange. The SF Art Exchange was the first to work with Ronnie Wood, hence - the access to Ronnie’s earlier works. For those unaware of the SF Art Exchange, I highly encourage you to look into their long and illustrious history. The framing of this piece was a costly endeavor - but one that masterfully showcases this Ronnie Wood rarity while working all the while to preserve its beautiful condition. Again, please spend some time viewing the above images of the frame that holds this serigraph. While many frames serve but one purpose (functionality), the frame that holds this work of art is - in essence, a work of art itself. While it may look it, as noted earlier the covering this frame employs is not glass, but a very firm (yet beautifully clear) UV resistant plexiglass. The former owner elected to go with plexiglass over glass, as plexiglass cuts down on the piece’s weight. The majority of the former owner’s fine art collection was kept off site at a temperature/humidity controlled storage unit. The former owner was fond of “alternating” art displayed in the home, meaning a lightweight, more durable substance (plexiglass) would prove advantageous to glass. While our team (prior to listing) debated replacing the plexiglass display with that of UV resistant glass, ultimately the plexiglass display was left in place for the reasons of transport. Plexiglass is much more durable than that of glass - providing safety and support to the serigraph throughout the shipping process. Depiction: This serigraph depicts the infamous Keith Richards, widely recognized as one of the world’s greatest ever guitarists. The piece is highly stylized, and visually striking in its use of vibrant hues, and contrasting colors. Abstract, yet the subject remains immediately identifiable. A highly unique depiction of a highly unique man…made by a highly unique artist! There are 4 “panels” so to speak that make up Keith V. In the upper panel (the largest) Keith Richards sits cool, calm, and collected - a cigarette in hand, trademark skull ring on his finger. Beautiful color gradient that seamlessly blends from one side, to the other. The bottom 3 “panels” depict Keith Richards cradling his guitar - each of the bottom three panels (though the same in depiction) differ in hue. Condition: There is an indent in the silvertone frame at the top, left of center where the frame has been pressed in. Blends in very well because the paint is still intact - measures about 0.75”. The indent is shallow. Otherwise aside from a scuff here and there on the silvertone frame this piece has BEAUTIFULLY withstood the test of time. The paper backing when it comes to the back of the frame is largely intact (one small spot where the thin covering paper is missing top left). The museum quality acid free matt is in incredible form - no flaws of note. Given the display covering is that of plexiglass, there are areas of general surface level scuffing on the plastic. This scuffing is very hard to see head on, but if you view the piece from at angle (you have to find the right one) slight scuffing can be seen. The serigraph has never been removed from the original frame. This piece was purchased, and subsequently immediately transported from the San Fransisco Art Exchange (where it was purchased) to be framed. The former owner’s only contact with the serigraph came AFTER it had been safely matted and framed. Parting Notes: A stunning example of what is already a finitely rare, highly sought after collector’s piece. This certified and authenticated Ronnie Wood piece is sure to appreciate in value as the years go forward. A piece that defies its age and time, just like that of the man the piece depicts (as well as the artist who created it!) ~Should you have any further questions, or if you would like to see any additional photos, please do not hesitate to reach out in the form of an email.
