Description: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Rare Arthur "Art" Ross 1938 Buick Century 60 concept art lithograph. This original art piece is signed, and includes a chop mark "R". ABOUT THE ARTIST: Hired by legendary designer Harley Earl, Arthur "Art" Ross worked on the designs of the Cadillac and Buick. Most notably the Buick Century 60, Cadillac Sixty Special, LaSalle, and Fleetwood. After World War II, he became Oldsmobile´s Chief Designer and helped shape automotive history for the next 13 years. His design imprint on the Olds extended to the 1961 models. His work shows an intriguing speculation of the future as one of the century's more brilliant visionaries imagined it from his perch in the fifties. Measurements: 32" x 22" Condition: Excellent overall condition. There are some signs of light wear around the white border of the lithograph including finger smudge marks from previous handling. The paint field is undamaged and is in near-mint condition. The lithograph is kept in a protective case and will be shipped carefully and rolled in a protective tube. Comments: The mark just left of the signature "A. Ross" is a chop mark. A chop mark is a mark or seal made with an embossing tool to the margin of an etching or lithograph. It signifies that a print has come from a particular publisher - either the printmaker's studio press or a separate master printmaker. The chop mark holds particular meaning for the printmaker and publisher. In addition to the artist's signature, it also reinforces the print's authenticity.
