Description: Singer 221 Featherweight w/Red S Badge 110 to 120 AC voltage Serial Number ES8801XX 1961/62 The tan colored 221J Featherweight sewing machines were made mostly in the St. John’s, factory in Canada, although some were made in the Kilbowie plant in Scotland and then shipped to Canada for finally finishing. A detailed list of tan colored 221 serial numbers is not available, but the Canadian built 221J machines seem to fall within the range JE150000 to JE162000 during 1961. 221 tan machines made in Kilbowie were given serial numbers allocated to 221K's in the range between ES873744 to ES883753 and were built during 1961-62.
