Rare 19th Century Antique Kazak Caucasian Kilim Wool Rug from Georgian Republic

Description: This is an antique Kazak Caucasian Kilim rug from the Borchalu area in the Georgian Republic, circa 1890. It has beautiful natural colours in undulating abstracted wave designs in wide bands. It was made in saturated natural dyes and appears to be little used in the 130 years or so of its life. A wonderful and satisfying combination of burgundy red, two distinct tones of blues, ochre yellow, and ecru. It is a wonderful antique and would make a great floor covering in a bedroom, study, or living space - less so for a conservatory or kitchen as this would likely incur damage; part of this rug’s value is its fantastic clean, little used condition and vibrancy, owing to careful storage and conservative use over the decades. There is no musty odour or accumulation of grime, as is often the case sourcing antique rugs(!) so no specialist cleaning required. A rare rug for the discerning collector, or interior designer looking to furnish both a contemporary or classical country house setting.
