Description: RARE 1/6 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE - "RED BEARDED MAN" - MINT CASE & ORIGINAL SEALS - The handsome dude in this sixth plate was part of the world wide 2% red haired club as seen by the tinting applied to his beard. Redheads with tinting are extremely rare to find today captured in daguerreotype likeness. I actually have seen more ginger women than men in my day affixed to these silvery portraits. The image with the original seals has exquisite richness of tone, great contrast and superb sharpness. His face had a subtle dusting of warmth and a more distinct application to his chin hair. He resides in his original mint leatherette case for his final presentation. Overall, you cannot go wrong falling in love with this 19th Century gentleman.
