Description: Offered is the BOOKLET ONLY: The Prints of Paul Klee by James Thrall Soby, pub. by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, in 1947 as a Limited Second Edition of 2000 which included this booklet with information about 40 of Klee's etchings and lithographs from MoMA's collection, ranging in date from 1903 to 1931. Offered here is the booklet only. Originally there was a clamshell case containing this descriptive booklet plus reproductions of 40 separate prints, 32 b/w & 8 in color. This is the BOOKLET ONLY: This is the Second Edition of this booklet. Text/essay by James Thrall Soby (then Chairman of the museum's Department of Painting and Sculpture). Stapled softcover wraps (8x11.5”), 15 pgs plus a List of Plates and a Catalog of Plates, ils. …No ISBN (The first edition of 1000 was published by Curt Valentin who had arranged the catalog of prints.) Binding is tight and pages are clean, but with age toning starting. Covers show darkening and wear, especially around the edges, and there are splash stains on the back cover (see first and last pics). The listing pictures of the front and back covers have a greenish cast for some reason. The covers are much closer in color to the yellow of the wraps visible in the second and third pictures.
