Description: Power Mac G4 Acard 6280M PCI ATA IDE 133 Drive Card 2 Port Boot OS9 OSX Tested . Up for grabs is a working and tested Dual Internal Connector PCI ATA IDE 133 Card for Mac Computers . Allows you to connect additional IDE / ATA / PATA drives internally in your Power Mac G4 . Brand = Acard . Model = 6280M . This is not a flashed PC card , but the rare genuine factory shipping Mac Edition card made by Acard . This card will allow you to connect drives larger than 137GB . Remember to keep boot partitions no larger than 127 GB in size . This card will also allow connected drives to boot both Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X ( on separate drives ) . Make certain to disable Time Machine and Spotlight with your more recent OS X version ( Tiger + ) installs if your Mac has any Classic Mac OSes connected in order to prevent file system corruption due to indexing . This was an issue Apple never solved in mixed OS G4s , but it can be mitigated . You can , of course , connect just data drives if you are so inclined . That's really quite easy . I was able to successfully use this card to boot IDE drives with Mac OS 9.1 , OS X 10.4.11 and OS X 10.5.8 installed on separate drives with my Power Mac G4 Digital Audio ( 2001 ) . You might need to install the OSes using the System's factory interfaces first and then transfer the drives back to the Acard interfaces . Drives connected to this card profile in Apple's System Profile under Parallel SCSI devices . This card will allow a total of four additional drives to connect to your Mac using the appropriate cables ( two drives per cable ) . Recommended cables : Dual Connector Ultra ATA / 133 with teflon shielding like those available from pccables.com : https://www.pccables.com/Products/ULTRA-ATA-TEFLON-DUAL-IDE-3-CONN-18-Inch-Black.html These are really nice affordable IDE cables for our Power Mac G4s and best to purchase them while they are still in production . In the listing pictures above you can view both the Acard's IDE interfaces connected each to a single IDE HDD . One drive is 500GB in total capacity and has four 116GB partitions , the first of which had Mac OS 9.1 installed . The other partitions were just used for data storage . The second drive is 160GB in capacity with a single 127 GB partition and Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 installed . Each drive was bootable with the Acard . In fact , all the drive volumes you see on both desktops were connected to the Acard . System requirements : 1 ) Power Mac G4 with an open PCI slot . 2 ) Mac OS 9.x.x . Mac OS X 10.0.0 - 10.5.8 . All pictures actual . Serial numbers recorded .
