Description: POST WWI, U.S. ARMY, M1919 EQUIPMENT TAGS, INF, CAV, SIG, ART, COAST ARTY In 1919 a new system was devised for marking field gear and equipment, which was to replace the need to stencil unit information on the material. Each piece of equipment would have one of these stamped with the unit information, and then the tines pushed through the web material. These tines were then bent over a metal washer for securing. This was a short-lived endeavor, as the stenciling of equipment was soon again common practice. This grouping consists of:M1919 Equipment Tag, Infantry, Marked “24” M1919 Equipment Tag, Cavalry, Marked “1G 71” Note: The “71” might not be correct as the digits are hard to read. M1919 Equipment Tag, Signal, Marked “3-I55” M1919 Equipment Tag, Artillery, Marked “1stnBn. HQ. 192nd, 45)” M1919 Equipment Tag, Coast Artillery, Marked “56D2”
