With this type of dial indicator you can dial your vise to tenths of a thousand parallel or dead on the money. The key is moving the pivot point from the anchor bolt (one of the bolts that locked your vise down)to a point that you can start off with a dial indicator. This will stop you from fighting the pivot point on the outside of your vise. If you are milling the outside of a part and then flipping it to cut the bottom outside and you want your part to match to top side. Your vise has to be perfectly parallel to your spindle. This is the tool you need. It is fast and easy within two sweeps on the face of the jaw you can achieve parallel. The tool is adjustable to 1” thick jaws, to no jaw (face of vise). The “Pivot Point” is made mostly on aluminum to keep it light. It is red anodized. A added feature is a part stopper. When you not using it to square your vise it can be a stop also.
