Universal indicator will turn from red in acidic solutions all the way to dark purple in more basic solutions. Bromothymol blue will change from yellow in acidic solutions to blue in basic solutions. Phenolphthalein will turn from clear in acidic solutions to a hot pink in basic solutions.
