It is still protected by the original heavy plastic--I did not remove it to check the back of the photo. Overall, the mat measures about 12.5 x 14.5 inches. The photo opening is about 7.5 x 7.25 inches. It is in excellent condition, with no damage visible to the photo or autograph. There is an indentation in the plastic above the signature that is visible in photos, but it does not impact the signature itself.
