Description: This one is a real trip, but it's a fun trip. L'Anarchie is a 2002 Spanish import by Pastel Vespa, who has quite a backstory (it's in the notes) but I'd bet a scooter it's fictional. What I do know is that this album is a surreal delight, with elements that call to mind Claudine Longet, Blueboy / Beaumont (the Sarah Records band and the one that came after), Death by Chocolate, Francoise Hardy, The Free Design, etc. The songs are all covers, spanning the decades, plenty of surprises and it all feels like you are having a soft serve ice cream at the beach (and I'm not talking Coney Island). Covers that I recognize include a French Anarchy In The UK, Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, California Dreaming by The Mamas & The Papas, Thin Lizzy, Astrud Gilberto, Ian Dury (Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick) and some that are really going to make you feel weird- 90s songs coming out as entirely different animals.
