Description: 'Panorama of the Battle of Trafalgar' by W L Wyllie, lithographic colour print. Measures 675mm x 175mm deep plus title. Overall size 700mm x 238mm. The original painting (measuring 42ft x12ft) resides in the Victory Gallery of the Royal Naval Museum / National Museum of the Royal Navy (Portsmouth). The panorama by W L Wyllie RA (1851-1931) depicts the scene at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805 at2pm. On the left of the painting Vice Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood's flagship HMS Royal Sovereign is locked together with the Spanish Santa Ana. In the centre Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship HMS Victory has engaged the French ship Redoubtable and to the left of the French ship is HMS Temeraire (the "Fighting Temeraire"). On the right the Spanish Santissima Trinidad fights a combined attack from 3 British ships. This lithographic print was produced by Linden Fine Arts in association with the Royal Naval Museum in 2003 and is printed on 265gsm satin fine art paper.
