Pablo Picasso Drinking Minotaur and Reclining Woman Gravure Print Hand Signed

Description: Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is arguably ordained the greatest painter of the 20th century. He was certainly one of the most diversified and prolific. He was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881. He was a painter, printmaker, sculptor and ceramist of the highest caliber. His artworks can be found in major museums all around the world. The artwork for sale is a signed print with the title "Minotaur une coupe a la main et jeune femme" which translates in English to "Minotaur drinking with a reclining young woman". The original image was an etching from Picasso's Vollard Suite and it was created in the early 30's. The artwork for sale is NOT the original etching from the Voillard Suite (which costs many thousands of dollars). This appears to be a line engraving or lithograph that came much later. Though it looks like the original etching, it is smaller and there is no plate mark on the paper. This is likely a re-printing that was published in the USA by Harry N. Abrams in 1954. This artwork appears to have Picasso's signature in red graphite in the lower right corner (photo 2). Seller is not sure of the total edition number for the Abrams print but it may have been between 200 and 1200 proofs and they were ordinarily not signed by the artist. This proof seems to bear the complimentary signature of Picasso but it has not been verified. The artwork in the blue mat and glass with elaborate frame measures 16" high and 17" wide. The window showing the print has the image at 7" high and 8" across. This item is being sold as "in the manner of Pablo Picasso" based on style and signature. There is no COA or written provenance for this piece. This elegant line drawing depicting a mythological figure in the company of a beautiful young girl is very desirable and the elaborate frame is quite beautiful in its own right. This will look terrific on your wall when you invite your date over to "see your etchings".
