The heavy 36 ounce melton wool coat has four pockets and a ten-button front, and is the pattern introduced in 1910. This example belonged to Edgar V. Flamant of Buffalo, Minnesota who enlisted in 1917 and served until 1919. He moved to Chicago and left his uniforms in the family home where they survived for a century. The coat is a size 37 regular, same as we wear so we can verify the fit. (If you are larger than that, it will be too small.) Body length in back base of collar to hem 31 inches. Sleeve length 22.5 inches, body width just below armscye 20 inches Stenciled three times on the indigo wool flannel lining. No other markings or label.
