Description: “View of Chartiers Creek Crafton, Pa.” by William Gillespie Armor (American, 1834–1924) Genuine Original Watercolor Painting of Chartiers Creek, Crafton, Pennsylvania From Aug.10, 1907 A charming pastoral scene from the early 20th century Western Pennsylvania. In the image is a farm house and a steam locomotive on a railroad in the distance, with a stream winding through the landscape. Archival Museum Quality Framing Watercolor measures 5 1/4 x 7 in. Frame measures 11 1/2 x 13 1/2 in. Serious parties may contact me directly. W. Armor was a prominent artist from Western Pennsylvania More of his works can be seen from a past exhibit at The Frick https://entertainmentcentralpittsburgh.com/artistry/hills-mills-bridges-and-chimneys-a-glimpse-into-pittsburghs-past/ This and another Armor watercolor were acquired from a person who was on the board of directors for The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Both paintings, at one time, hung in either The Carnegie or The Frick, I'm not 100% certain which museum. The watercolor has been preserved excellently, though the frame, matting and glass/plexi is showing it's age. I've had them for 10 years so they must have been framed like this for at least 30 years, if I had to guess, even longer perhaps. The museum archivist erroneously named the artist as "Armour" on the sticker. Overall very nice pieces. (If anyone viewing this has a recent photo of this very scene/location, please get in touch with me. I would love to see it and add to this listing. I will give you credit for the photo as well.)
