Description: This is an original oil on canvas painting with a western theme. The title of the painting is "An Unexpected Stop". The image shows rustlers' horses at the top of a canyon as they overlook a train robbery by the highwaymen. The painting measures 18" high by 22" across. The outside frame measures 21" high by 27" across. The details are stunning (ie. photo 9). Age of the painting appears to be early 1950's. The canvas has nails to adhere it to the stretcher bars (photo 13). Please check out the intricate details of the train engine as well (photo 21). The title "The Unexpected Stop" is on a plastic label (photo 20). Even the tiny perspective of the robbers and their victims is intricately rendered (photo 15). Sky is a gorgeous blue, mountain backdrop is in white and gray and canyon rock is brown and realistically lined. Research needs to be done on the artist who signed the painting ("SLB") at the lower left (photo 2). If you're a collector and you know who "SLB" stands for, please let the seller know. If you enjoy paintings with Western themes, this beautifully rendered painting is a "must have" conversation piece.
