Description: Up for sale is an original painting my father did in the late 1990s to early 2000s - of the Austrian Alps (I gave him a watercolor block as a present that he used during these years.). For about 20 years my father, Stuart Jones, would spend August in Baden Baden Germany doing portraits in the square and then traveling every other week. He always visited a friend in the Austrian Alps, cannot remember the town. He loved to paint from life - "en plein air". Very loose quick rendering to capture the light before the shadows change, so very nice "wet" painting. You can tell he was painting every day when he did this. I found this cleaning out my art studio making room to begin a series in oils. It is always fun to find more of his work. Very prolific artist, painted or drew nearly every day, even during WWII. He passed about 3 years ago but his artwork lives on in our home and in others. Please search Stuart Jones in our store for more lovely art souvenirs from his trips literally around the world.
