Description: This interesting 9-1/4" x 11-1/2" photo features a WW1 US Army Marching Band, complete with baton-carrying conductor and drum major, plus a number of rifle-carrying soldiers surrounding the band during the photograph. It appears that the setting for this photo is a rocky hillside just outside of a large stone building, perhaps in Belgium or France. There are approximately 35 band members in this photo, carrying clarinets, flutes, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, french horns, tubas, baritone horns, and drums, plus a conductor and drum major. There are also approximately 15 rifle-carrying infantrymen, and approximately 60 soldiers without rifles or musical instruments, all wearing winter-time heavy military coats. The circumstances of such a setting for a photo may never be known, but the physical environment combined with the mix of various participants in the WW1 US Army military effort probably would be an interesting story. The condition of this large photo is acceptable, and the sepia tone sets the mood quite nicely. See the "seller's notes" and photos for more condition details. This photo will be carefully shipped to the buyer flat and rigid to make sure that the photo is stable and no damage occurs during shipment.
