Description: Electra Malone (1911-1992) was a Texas artist known for her oils and watercolors in the realist and post-impressionist styles, especially landscapes and Southwestern motifs. She studied art at the University of Texas at Austin and North Texas State University, and she taught painting classes at Southern Methodist University during the 1960’s and 1970’s. For a time in the late 1960’s she was also President of the Southwest Watercolor Society in Dallas, Texas. It has been reported that President Lyndon Johnson liked her work and that some of her pieces were displayed in the White House during his administration. This is one of two Electra Malone's I will be listing tonight from the estate of regional Dallas art collector. Please see my other items if interested -- combined shipping always applies. No date or title on this watercolor. It is probably east Texas or Louisiana. Signed lower mid-right as photographed. Condition: Very good giftable condition. I see no mentionable issues with the artwork. Only mentionable issue is paint on wood frame has suffered a few dings and gilt loss. Framing is tight and well matted. No foxing, tears, creases, repairs, soiling, or discolorations. Backing paper torn to see if image provided additional information about the artwork. Dimensions:Framed total size: 23” Wide x 19” Tall x 2.5” Deep. Image size 21" Wide x 17" Tall. Unpacked weight: 4 pound, 5 ounces. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views.I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
