James Maddocks Ocean Village Cape Cod

Description: Vintage ! Renowned and respected Cape Cod artist James Maddocks , whose paintings can be found around the world in corporate and private collections including one in the collection of Queen Elizabeth II , has created a serene scene of village life on Cape Cod . This beauty was painted in 1985 . According to Mr. Maddocks, this is not a particular place on Cape Cod but depicts a scene of village life that is present throughout many Cape Cod communities. It’s a beautiful, peaceful setting that evokes a sense of calmness and quiet. Painting including lovely wooden frame is 18 inches in height and 24 inches in width. PLEASE READ : I believe this is an acrylic painting . According to his website , Mr. Maddocks uses acrylic paints . To me , although there is in some spots that more textured feel, it is not on the whole painting. It does not have the extensive layered look like many oils have . It has a bit more of a matte finish rather than shiny. These are some of the reasons I lean towards acrylic . However, I have seen at online auction sights that several oil paintings by him have sold. So I guess at some point he used both. I have had 2 different antique stores examine the painting . They both agreed it’s a lovely, desirable painting , but one said it is oil and the other is leaning toward acrylic. So full disclosure, I am not sure. If you are happy with either one , this is a great choice for you as it’s beauty has not faded with time. Frame has tiny chip ( see picture) - Some mild discoloration on back of canvas . Otherwise picture and frame are in very good condition . See all pictures as painting and frame are sold as is . I have included several pictures to try to give as accurate condition as possible .
