Description: ONCE YOU SEE THIS SIGN, YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN FOR A DAY OF FUN AND ADVENTURE. AND NOW YOU CAN HAVE THIS FEELING EVERYDAY WHEN YOU LIGHT UP THIS MINIATURE DISNEYLAND MARQUEE! Add some Disney magic to your collection with this Olszewski Disneyland Marquee Light Up Sculpture, a first edition piece that comes with its original box and certificate of authenticity. The sculpture features the iconic Disneyland Marquee, a must-have for any Disney fan. Celebrate the magic of Disneyland with this beautifully crafted sculpture, perfect for collectors of all ages. THIS PIECE WAS DISPLAYED BRIEFLY IN A GLASS CABINET WITHOUT THE BATTERIES IN. I never even used the plug attachment until I took pictures for this auction because I wanted to make sure it still works. But you can also use 3 AAA batteries to light it up, which are not included. The plastic coverings for the plaques on the piece were never removed either, so you can either keep them on or take them off for a shinier presentation. NOTE: I noticed that on the back of the sculpture, the small marquee lettering appears to be missing. (It is the same as the words on the front, but it is missing from the back.) I have searched through the box and can't find it anywhere. But unless you plan to display this somewhere where the back can be seen, it should not be an issue. I'm sure a clever collector could jerry-rig some new lettering for it, or even make up your own. That is up to you. Just wanted you to be aware. This is an amazing piece of Disney memorabilia. It is the FIRST EDITION of the piece and was only available for the first year of production (2011). Here's more about the piece from the enclosed Certificate of Authenticity: The Disney World Main Street USA Collection is a series of architectural models representing those structures existing on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom Park. Through the collaborative efforts with Olszewski Studios, headed by renowned miniaturist Robert Olszewski, Disney World is proud to present each state-of-the-art reproduction. Each major design has been carefully crafted to retain the "magic" of the Park, exquisitely detailed with special lighting allowing the collector to view the park both as daytime as well as nighttime. We used "Z" scale (1/220th) as our platform for every building. In addition, we have enlarged the doorways to accommodate "N" scale (1/140th) characters and trains so you can add a working train to your collection. For the first twelve (12) months of each design's introductory period, the pieces produced during this time frame carried the First Edition mark. After that, they come unmarked and are part of an open edition. Here's a little info about Disneyland I found on Wikipedia: Disneyland is a theme park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. It was the first theme park opened by The Walt Disney Company and the only one designed and constructed under the direct supervision of Walt Disney, and opened on July 17, 1955. Disney initially envisioned building a tourist attraction adjacent to his studios in Burbank to entertain fans who wished to visit; however, he soon realized that the proposed site was too small for the ideas that he had. After hiring the Stanford Research Institute to perform a feasibility study determining an appropriate site for his project, Disney bought a 160-acre (65 ha) site near Anaheim in 1953. The park was designed by a creative team hand-picked by Walt from internal and outside talent. They founded WED Enterprises, the precursor to today's Walt Disney Imagineering. Construction began in 1954 and the park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17, 1955. Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone expansions and major renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country in 1972, Mickey's Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in 2019.[2] Additionally, Disney California Adventure Park opened in 2001 on the site of Disneyland's original parking lot. Here's a little info I found out about Robert Olszewski I found on his website: Robert William Olszewski (pronounced ol-shes-ski) has established himself as a major influence in the creation and production of miniature figurative art. Robert Olszewski began his art career first as a painter and as an art teacher who evolved to become a world known miniature figurative artist, sculptor, and architect. In 1977, his first serious miniature figurative works were sculpted to accessorize a doll house that he built for his daughter, Meredith. Over a 30-year career, Olszewski’s miniature work continues to evolve, and he has created a body of work that is collected worldwide.
