Old Path White Clouds is a classic of religious literature."I have not avoided including the various difficulties the Buddha encountered, both from his own disciples and in relation to the wider society. If the Buddha appears in this book as a man close to us, it is partly due to recounting such difficulties."-Thich Nhat Hanh, from the Afterword Author Biography Thich Nhat Hanh was a world-renowned spiritual teacher and peace activist. Born in Vietnam in 1926, he became a Zen Buddhist monk at the age of sixteen. Over seven decades of teaching, he published more than 100 books, which have sold more than four million copies in the United States alone. Exiled from Vietnam in 1966 for promoting peace, his teachings on Buddhism as a path to social and political transformation are responsible for bringing the mindfulness movement to Western culture. He established the international Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism in France, now the largest Buddhist monastery in Europe and the heart of a growing community of mindfulness practice centers around the world. He passed away in 2022 at the age of 95 at his root temple, Tu Hieu, in Hue, Vietnam. Review "A very thick, novel-like account of the Buddhas life... Every word on the page awoke in me the wish to follow this path for myself and discover the liberation that this awakened individual was pointing to in my own heart."—Kaira Jewel Lingo, meditation teacher and author of We Were Made for These Times Promotional Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha Promotional "Headline" Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha Details ISBN0938077260 Author Nguyen Thi Hop Short Title OLD PATH WHITE CLOUDS Pages 600 Publisher Parallax Press Language English ISBN-10 0938077260 ISBN-13 9780938077268 Media Book Format Paperback DEWEY 294.363 Imprint Parallax Press Subtitle Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha Country of Publication United States Place of Publication Berkeley Residence Plum Village, FR Illustrator Nguyen Thi Hop DOI 10.1604/9780938077268 AU Release Date 1987-04-30 NZ Release Date 1987-04-30 US Release Date 1987-04-30 UK Release Date 1987-04-30 Narrator Tom Judd Translator Carlos E.
